A media institution is an established, often profit-based organization that deals in the creation and distribution of advertising, entertainment and information services. They are largely trans-national in nature but can exist in a smaller/national form. Examples of worldwide media institution would be; News International, The Walt Disney Company, 21st Century Fox and Time Warner.
Our sequence would probably be a British or French Independent film production as our budget is not particularly high. But it could also be a Hollywood production but either way it wouldn’t be summer or winter blockbuster, but more in spring or autumn not during holidays. Because our piece is the opening to a psychological thriller, our main emphasis is on the message that we are trying to convey rather than creating fantastic visual effects as a high value production like Hollywood would do. Our media product would probably be like ‘The Gift’ with Cate Blanchlett or ‘Gothika’ with Halle
y Barry, a psychological thriller.

Those two movies are psychological thriller and they are dealing with the mental behaviour of the main actors. Our product is showing the mental behaviour by the bricks and the washing bit. The audience doesn’t know if she makes it up in her mind or if it really happened. The flashbacks or visions are the prove for her ‘speciality’.
The idea that it could be promoted and distributed by an independent film company and represents this movie then on a movie festival, is something really interesting because if the company does that it could guarantee success in that a bigger film company might see it and makes a remake out of it. However it is very difficult to be lucky enough to get accepted at a film festival so that your film will actually be seen, but still I think it is a great idea because you do the movie the way you like it and then the Media Institutions can think of whether they believe it is worth to do a remake. I think if I would show my film at a film festival an British or French Institution. However I would also try to target our film to „Hammer Film Productions“, which is also known as „Hammer Horror“. It is a film production company based in the United Kingdom that used to dominate the horror film market and used to do great successes like “Frankenstein” and “Dracula”. Now they are restarting and therefore they would maybe use our horror film. I think they would be good because they also have the long-time experience from the past because they were founded in 1934.
